Schukman's article not an ethical solution

Over the past week, we've spent a lot of time railing against Josh Schukman's multiple contributions to The Mac Weekly ("Abortion is not an ethical solution," April 18, "Letters to the Editor," April 25). Here, we'd like to publicly address the questions Josh poses to his critics.

Rape: A true story

With the exception of my RA's bulletin board, I don't remember seeing any information about, or resources related to, sexual assault throughout my freshman year at Macalester. Based on this, I thought it was safe to assume that rape was something that just didn't happen here.

Next Wednesday, there will be a general faculty vote on the proposal to create a new department: the Mind and Brain Studies department.

The oh-so-substantial final staff editorial: Thumbs up, thumbs down

Thumbs up Res Life is tender and knows no gender… sometimes After the precipitous reappearance of gendered bathrooms in previously neutral sections of Kirk Hall, students wrote a proposal to Residential Life for all-gender housing. Now, a section of Kirk will be dedicated to intentional community around gender issues.

An open letter to Ola Switala

Ola, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my essay in the Mac Weekly, but I was disappointed that you answered my essay in an overly personal way. I do respect your views, but I ask that you respect mine, too. Nonetheless, I will respond to your critique as thoroughly as space will allow.
