Brian Stephenson '10 was named the third student liaison to the Board of Trustees this week. He will be taking over for Franz Meyer '09 starting next fall. The student liaison facilitates communication between the student body and the Board of Trustees. The liaison does this by meeting with senior staff and student groups and by reporting to student government after each Board meeting.

As finals wind down for Macalester students, thoughts begin to turn to summer work-or lack thereof.
This year, Macalester saw a dramatic spike in on-campus job applications. The five to seven full-time summer positions offered by Admissions received roughly 100 applications, Assistant to the Director of Admissions Lucy Bauer said.

For anyone who's been looking to show a little extra school spirit in their lives, make sure to save a space on your wall. After numerous requests from students, parents and alumni, the college plans to have Macalester flags available for sale in the Highlander store by the fall.

Students returning in the fall should not be surprised if they walk into the library for the first time and find it strangely unfamiliar-a reorganization of the library's lower level and first floor has been tentatively planned for this summer.
The proposed changes, Library Director Terri Fishel said, would move the computers from the lower-level library lab to the first floor, adding extra classroom and study spaces to the bottom floor.
