Mac grad '07 awarded Fulbright Scholarship

A 2007 Macalester graduate was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship over the summer to bring the total number of 2007 graduates studying abroad through the scholarship to five.
Annie Berge '07, a German major and Environmental Studies minor, was awarded a special Fulbright to perform an English teaching assistantship in Mittweida, Germany. While the purpose of her program is to teach, she will also complete a small, supplemental research project while she is there.
The Fulbright Scholarship, a grant managed by the Institute of International Education, allows students who have graduated with at least a B.A. to partake in a 10-month research program in a country of their choice.
The Fulbright Program was established in 1947 and its website says that it "aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills."
Since 1998, 28 Fulbright Scholarships have been awarded to Macalester students.
