Students listen as (l-r) Leigh Smythe '72, Danni Sigwalt '08, moderator Eily Marlow '97, Dean of Students Jim Hoppe and Erin Miller '05 take questions about all-gender accommodations at Macalester in the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Lounge last Friday. Smythe, who serves on the Trangsender Commission at the University of Minnesota, and Miller, who works in Admissions and Residential life and worked previously at the very transgender-friendly University of Vermont, shared experiences of all-gender accommodations at those institutions. Sigwalt played a key role in securing a section of all-gender housing in Kirk, which will open in the fall.
